The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a mid-career Mechanical Engineer for their Engineering and Innovative Technology Development group. The role involves developing mechanical system designs for space applications and supervising engineering documentation and CAD drawings, while collaborating with other engineers to create integrated systems.

Oversees the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems
Guide and train less experienced engineers
Performs multiple engineering-related tasks in various assignments within the organization
Support meetings, teleconferences, and travel as required by projects
Reports to EITD Mechanical Engineering Section Lead
Has broad knowledge of engineering procedures and assists in the resolution of complex problems
Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a related field
Six (6) years of related experience required
Ability to use various engineering and documentation/analysis software, MS Word, and Excel
Ability to problem-solve
Ability to work independently

Technical Communication skills (verbal & written)
Prioritization skills
Process improvement and quality skills
Ability to train others
Mechanical Design experience using CAD software
Mechanical Fabrication and Assembly experience

Mechanical Engineering experience for aerospace applications
