Immigration Services Assistant
Esperanza Immigrant Rights Project is part of Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc., a major human services provider in California. The Immigration Services Assistant will assist the Immigration Department and its clients with processes related to Citizenship, DACA, and Legal Permanent Residency, focusing on family reunification.

Responsibilities
Works under direction to assist in preparation of affirmative immigration cases
Attends all assigned training and maintain a passing score for all training received
Completes assigned tasks accurately and within stated time frames
Fields phone calls from potential clients, schedules client phone or in-person appointments
Assists clients in completing legal immigration applications by phone, in the office or at offsite workshops
Accurately documents client information and completes intake forms and applications as assigned
Able to communicate clearly with clients as assigned regarding documents required and how to obtain those documents
Able to accurately review forms and documents submitted by clients for completeness
Able to maintain client records as assigned
Able to quickly and accurately update client records in data system(s) as assigned
Performs general office administrative/clerical work (scanning/filing/copying)
Displays sensitivity to various client populations’ cultural and socioeconomic characteristics
Perform other related duties as required
Qualification
Required
Completion of high school or equivalent
Six to twelve months of office or other related experience
Bilingual English/Spanish required
Able to translate documents from/to English/Spanish
Effective client service skills
Maintain high level of confidentiality
Maintain accurate and orderly records and files
Communicate effectively in writing and oral form
Preferred
Knowledge of Federal immigration and naturalization laws, regulations and procedures preferred
Knowledge of community/public resources preferred
