Senior Coordinator for Student Organizations, Leadership Development & Assessment
California State University, Monterey Bay is a mid-sized university in California’s Central Coast that grants undergraduate and graduate degrees. The Coordinator for Student Organizations, Leadership, and Engagement is responsible for the design, coordination, implementation, and assessment of a comprehensive student engagement program, providing advising and operational support to Registered Student Organizations and campus-wide initiatives.

Responsibilities
Serve as the professional staff advisor for the Inter-Club Council (ICC) and United Sorority & Fraternity Council (USFC)
Oversee annual registration, recognition, and reactivation processes for RSOs, including Greek Life
Develop and maintain resources such as the Student Organization Handbook, Advisor’s Guide, and Event Planning Toolkit
Provide guidance to student clubs and organizations on policy interpretation, event planning, fiscal procedures, and compliance with CSU and University policies, state/federal laws, and risk management expectations
Serve as the primary advisor to fraternities and sororities through the USFC and chapter leaders
Prepare reports related to compliance with state and federal laws
Manage registration, recognition, and accreditation processes in alignment with CSU, University, and national organization standards
Provide training and guidance on governance, leadership, values-based programming, and risk management to clubs, student organizations, and their advisors
Serve as liaison with national organizations, advisors, and University stakeholders
Liaise between RSOs, advisors, Associated Students, Otter Student Union, and other campus partners
Design and implement leadership development programs, workshops, and conferences to support student growth and engagement
Coordinate and execute TEDx CSUMB as a signature leadership initiative
Collaborate with campus partners to host quarterly student leadership training sessions for campus student leaders
Provide leadership coaching, training, and conflict management support for student leaders and organizations
Partner with campus departments to deliver inclusive leadership and experiential learning opportunities
Coordinates campus engagement initiatives through MyRaft (CampusGroups), supporting student organization operations, event registration, and campus involvement tracking
Train students, advisors, and campus partners on effective use of MyRaft (Campus Groups)
Support campus-wide engagement initiatives including Welcome Back Week, Orientation, Admitted Days, Otter Days, RAFT Week, Open House, and other campus wide events
Coordinate recognition initiatives highlighting contributions of student leaders, RSOs, and Greek organizations
Organize, coordinate, and support campus programs, events, and initiatives related to social programming, student engagement, and belonging
Oversee daily operations of the Esports Lounge, including scheduling, policy development, and supervision of student staff
Collaborate with campus partners to integrate Esports into student engagement and community-building initiatives
Oversee the budget and supplies for Esports operations
Organize and coordinate campus programs and initiatives related to Esports
Contribute to departmental programs, retreats, and strategic planning
Assess the effectiveness of student engagement, leadership, and organizational programs
Collect, analyze, and publish departmental assessment data related to student learning outcomes and program delivery
Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student employees in leadership, event, and operational roles
Manage budgets, travel processes, and compliance tracking for RSOs, ICC, and Greek Life
Qualification
Required
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate coursework in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related
Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent to four years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience which includes experience in advising students individually and in groups, and in analysis and resolution of complex student services problems
Preferred
Master's degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or Student Affairs
Four years of professional experience in student activities, fraternity/sorority advising, student organizations, or engagement facilities such as eSports
Experience managing online student engagement platforms such as CampusGroups
Familiarity with CSU system policies, Title 5, Chancellor's Office executive orders, and higher education legal frameworks
Demonstrated experience supporting diverse and multicultural student populations
Strong understanding of student development, leadership education, and organizational advising
Demonstrated experience in event planning and execution
Ability to advise students and organizations on complex issues including conflict resolution, governance, and policy interpretation
Knowledge of risk management, fiscal oversight, and assessment strategies
Familiarity with student engagement platforms (e.g., CampusGroups/MyRaft)
Strong collaboration, organizational, and communication skills
Technical fluency with Oracle/PeopleSoft, CSU Common Management System or equivalent student/finance information system; Microsoft Office Professional; Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar, Forms, etc.); 25Live; intranet drives; and internet browsers
