Responsibilities

Provide legal assistance as requested by divisional business clients and attorneys by conducting in-depth legal research to analyze, interpret, and draw conclusions regarding state & federal statutes, regulations, and case law related to the life insurance, annuity, and pension business and products, estate and trust matters

Providing legal and compliance services to divisional clients and attorneys, helping with the compliance/implementation of changes in state and federal laws governing insurance, annuity, and pension products

Maintain comprehensive and organized matter files while adhering to Pacific Life’s confidentiality and ethical standards

Consult with divisional clients, attorneys, and other third parties to gather information, exchange documents, and provide updates on tasks and projects

Required

Completion of ABA approved paralegal program

Two plus years of recent paralegal experience; or equivalent aggregate experience

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to draft clear, concise, and well-structured communications that present complex legal concepts in an understandable manner, showing understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation

Comfortable working on multiple projects and prioritizing work streams as needed

Preferred

Strong demonstrable, legal research skills using online applications such as Westlaw Edge and Practical Law and Copilot

Work experience in life insurance, annuity, and pension administration related products, and/or state and federal regulatory compliance. Also, estate planning, probate, trusts, guardianships, conservatorships, and power of attorney

Technical knowledge, including Office 365 applications, Outlook, SharePoint, OpenText Core Share
