Laboratory Sciences Professional (Entry – Senior Level)

Responsibilities
In-vitro sterile cell and tissue culture
Performance of immunological lab assays (flow cytometry, ELISA, etc.)
Performance of functional biochemical assays for studies of metabolism
Set up and processing of in vivo experiments with rodents (handling mice, administering substances, euthanasia and anesthesia, dissections)
Accurate record keeping
Purchasing and inventory of reagents
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field
A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis
One (1) year professional level research experience
Two (2) years professional level research experience for Senior Level
Ability to work with live animals, including handling and treatment of mice (injections, administration of substances) is necessary
Advanced knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques
Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
Outstanding customer service skills
Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information
Basic knowledge of data entry, graphing results and statistical analysis, preparation of conceptual illustrations
Preferred
Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field
Three (3) years' experience in an experimental or wet laboratory
Research experience in the fields of immunology, biochemistry, or developmental biology
Experience with oral abstract presentations and presentation of research data
Experience with or basic knowledge of programming and/or computational biology
