They are seeking a qualified Substation Relay Technician to support the operation of substations, which includes installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting various electronic and electrical systems, as well as project management functions.

Responsibilities

Install, commission, test, and maintain protective relaying equipment in substations

Perform functional testing on control circuits for relay panels, transformers, and circuit breakers

Develop and execute relay macros and testing routines to verify protection scheme integrity

Conduct end-to-end relay testing using relay test software; analyze performance based on fault types

Develop written standard commissioning, testing, and maintenance procedures

Review relay settings and logic equations to ensure alignment with system protection designs

Create, review, and execute substation equipment isolation and restoration switching procedures

Lead safety briefings and maintain a strong safety culture on job sites

Investigate electrical issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions

Interpret protection and control schematic and wiring diagrams to identify errors or inconsistencies

Use manufacturer documentation to support relay testing and maintenance tasks

Assist with other duties as assigned, including electric system construction and maintenance

Required

Minimum of 1 year working in a substation environment, including project management, construction, testing, and operations involving protective relaying and SCADA
