Principal Product Development Engineer (Composite Design Engineer)
General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (OTS) is a global leader in the design, engineering and production of munitions and related systems. The Principal Product Development Engineer will specify product requirements, design and test components, and collaborate with various teams to optimize product designs for manufacturability.

Responsibilities
Specifies precise new product functional requirements; designs, tests and integrates components to produce final designs; evaluates the design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability and safety
Participates in cross-functional teams to assess technical needs and feasibility
Designs, develops, executes and evaluates fitness-for-use testing, product specifications and process validation plans
Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability
Lays out and draws schematic or angle views to review functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems and machines
Using engineering techniques, helps to design, maintain, or improve new or existing products and/or components
Designs, models, and tests prototypes for products
Conducts research and creates design proposals for projects
Establishes design briefs
Creates concepts, performance, and production criteria. Identifies and selects materials needed for production
Makes samples of working models for demonstration
Recommends appropriate production processes and improves usability of the product
Qualification
Required
Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 8-10 years' experience
Discipline/Major: Engineering degree required
Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred
