Water & Wastewater Civil Engineer-in-Training - UMIAQ Design
Ukpeaġvik Iñupiat Corporation is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training who is interested in gaining practical experience on the design, operations, maintenance, and management of rural water and wastewater utility systems. The role involves assisting in various engineering projects and supporting utility operators while gaining experience required to become a registered professional civil engineer in Alaska.
Construction
Responsibilities
Work under the direction of a Professional Civil Engineer, with increasing responsibility based on performance and demonstrated capability
Assist in the planning, design, and construction administration for capital improvement and expansion projects of community water and wastewater facilities and systems
Support utility operators and administrators with operational engineering solutions addressing water and wastewater facility and system maintenance issues
Conduct site visits and field investigations to support project planning and design
Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and external consultants throughout project development
Prepare design and construction documents across all project phases
Support the bidding process, including development of bid documents and contractor coordination
Provide construction administration services and assist with project closeout
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (EIT)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of civil engineering design principles, preparation of design documents, and traditional construction methods
Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening
Preferred
Experience in water and sewer system planning and design
Experience with AutoCAD drafting
