Payroll Specialist (Fixed-term contract)
Kraken is a technology company focused on creating a smart, sustainable energy system. They are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist responsible for ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, while maintaining compliance with laws and internal policies.

Responsibilities
Process payroll accurately and timely for all employees in Spain and Italy
Ensure compliance with local labor laws, tax regulations, and internal policies
Maintain and update payroll records and employee data (e.g., salaries, bonuses, deductions)
Collaborate with new hires, terminations, and changes in compensation
Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies or errors
Coordinate with Finance for payroll-related journal entries and reporting
Manage relationships with external payroll vendors or platforms
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, taxes, and payslips
Support audits and reporting requirements as needed
Qualification
Required
Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist, Payroll Administrator, or similar role in Spain (+2 or 3 years experience)
Solid understanding of payroll principles, labor legislation, and tax regulations
Experience working with payroll software (e.g., ADP, SAP, Workday, Deel, etc.)
Strong attention to detail and high level of confidentiality
Comfortable working with spreadsheets and payroll reports
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Fluent in English and Spanish
Preferred
Experience working in a multinational or remote-first company
Familiarity with payroll processes in Italy
Knowledge of benefits administration and HRIS tools
