Operations Technician

Ilitch Companies, through the Detroit Tigers, is seeking a Ballpark Operations Technician to provide operational support and perform mechanical maintenance at Comerica Park. The role involves ensuring efficient and safe operation of mechanical systems, including HVAC and plumbing, while adhering to safety codes and standards.

Responsibilities

Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical systems, including HVAC units, plumbing systems, and other facility equipment
Read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics to determine the scope and requirements of mechanical maintenance tasks
Complete mechanical service requests, including repairs to HVAC systems, plumbing fixtures, pumps, and motors, ensuring compliance with safety and building codes
Participate in on-call emergency rotation to address urgent mechanical system issues
Operate, maintain, and repair facility equipment, including boilers, chillers, air handlers, and other mechanical infrastructure
Monitor and maintain the safekeeping of mechanical tools, equipment, and supplies in accordance with current building and safety codes
Document all maintenance activities and repairs using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Collaborate with contractors working on mechanical systems, providing input to ensure seamless integration with day-to-day operations
Maintain mechanical rooms, workshops, and storage areas in excellent working condition
Adhere to OSHA and other applicable safety codes while performing all mechanical maintenance tasks
Implement operational techniques to improve the efficiency of mechanical systems and ensure compliance with all relevant codes
Report irregularities, discrepancies, equipment damage, or safety concerns promptly, following established reporting procedures
Ensure proper stocking and inventory of mechanical supplies and spare parts in supply rooms
Conduct full-building quality assurance checks with third-party maintenance supervisors to prioritize tasks and communicate findings to management

Required

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Minimum five (5) years of experience in mechanical maintenance, including HVAC and plumbing systems
Working knowledge and operation of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment (e.g., forklifts, scissor lifts, or skid loaders)
Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical systems, including HVAC units, plumbing systems, and other facility equipment
Read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics to determine the scope and requirements of mechanical maintenance tasks

Preferred

Prefer one (1) year of experience in a mechanical maintenance capacity within a multi-purpose facility servicing major exhibitions, entertainment, or events
Customer service-oriented with a professional and neat appearance at all times
Proactive awareness of the work environment, addressing cleanliness by picking up trash, wrappers, or debris to maintain a tidy facility
Full-time position requiring flexible scheduling, including possible first, second, and third shift rotations
Enjoys helping others and thrives in a collaborative team environment
Ability to multitask, meet tight deadlines, and perform effectively under stress
Proactive in fostering positive interactions with guests and coworkers, maintaining respectful and friendly communication
Available to attend all required training as a prerequisite for employment
Ability to stand, walk, or navigate stairs throughout an event
Proficient in operating software on mobile platforms for maintenance tracking
Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals, blueprints, and mechanical drawings
Advanced knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical system repairs and operations
