Senior LevelWilliam & Mary Libraries is seeking an Assistant Professor of Data Science for a tenure track position. The successful candidate will focus on methodological innovation in large-scale and multi-modal data, mentor students, and teach courses while developing interdisciplinary curriculum.

Responsibilities
Develop and sustain an externally funded research program that fosters a dynamic lab environment engaging Data Science Ph.D., masters and undergraduate students
Mentor, supervise, and train students in research
Teach one course per semester while developing curriculum that bridges disciplinary boundaries
Provide service to the Department, School, and University
Contribute to the growth and reputation of the unit
Qualification
Required
A Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related Computational Science (including applications of computation in the physical or environmental sciences) at the time appointment begins (August 10, 2026)
Preferred
Previous experience in teaching and mentoring successful undergraduate and graduate research
Evidence of scholarly achievement or demonstrated potential as a scholar
Grant writing experience
