Postdoctoral Research Fellow - McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics

Responsibilities
Design and lead independent research projects focused on digital twins methodology and applications in healthcare, including simulation-based modeling of patient trajectories, treatment outcomes, and care pathways using real-world data
Develop and evaluate AI/ML methods with an emphasis on spatiotemporal modeling techniques (e.g., time-series forecasting, graph-based models, and transformer architectures) applied to EHRs, sensor data, imaging, and other multimodal clinical datasets
Ensure data quality and fitness-for-use by implementing robust preprocessing, missing data handling, data harmonization, and validation strategies to support valid and reproducible modeling process
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams spanning biomedical informatics, clinical experts, biostatistics, and computer science to translate methodological innovations into practical applications
Plans and conducts experiments, analyzes data, and prepares publications describing results
Assists in training and mentoring of lab personnel, including graduate students and other trainees
Reads and evaluates literature
Possess interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate and communicate with individuals at all levels
Have strong written and oral communication skills
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Doctoral/Terminal Degree
Design and lead independent research projects focused on digital twins methodology and applications in healthcare
Develop and evaluate AI/ML methods with an emphasis on spatiotemporal modeling techniques
Ensure data quality and fitness-for-use by implementing robust preprocessing, missing data handling, data harmonization, and validation strategies
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams spanning biomedical informatics, clinical experts, biostatistics, and computer science
Plans and conducts experiments, analyzes data, and prepares publications describing results
Assists in training and mentoring of lab personnel, including graduate students and other trainees
Reads and evaluates literature
Possess interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate and communicate with individuals at all levels
Have strong written and oral communication skills
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas
