Wireless Network Support Analyst

ATC is responsible for technology in Milwaukee County, and they are seeking a Wireless Network Support Analyst to assist in designing, implementing, and maintaining wireless networks. The role includes managing network IP addresses, troubleshooting network problems, and documenting inventory of devices at the Milwaukee County Zoo.

Responsibilities

Assist in designing, implementing, and maintaining the networks by managing network IP addresses
Communicate network information and requirements to connect hosts onto the network
Install, upgrade, and maintain network routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, wireless controllers, other network devices and servers
Work with vendors to research emerging technologies and diagnose and resolve network problems
Utilize multiple tools to monitor the network to ensure optimum performance and assist in troubleshooting issues
Maintain internet links, work with other Information Services units, faculty, and staff in the integration, maintenance, and problem resolution of network services
Maintain documentation and database information
Work with Procurement Services in the preparation and evaluation of bid specifications for network hardware and software
Scout all buildings at the Zoo, documenting an inventory of all devices and listing product type, model, function, vendor, etc., per location
Create a depository of images depicting the technologies present across the Zoo
Review network diagrams and define IP schemes, current configuration protocols, and connectivity
Define and associate devices and applications to the various vendor technologies present at the Zoo

Required

1 to 3 years' experience with Wireless networks
1 to 3 years' experience with documenting inventory
Works independently and asks questions when needed
Excellent documentation skills
A bachelor's degree is required (an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered)
Effective verbal and written communication skills, ability to follow technical instructions, and problem-solving using diagnostic techniques and protocols are essential
Thorough understanding of network protocols, including TCP/IP, routers, switches, and wireless systems

Preferred

Excellent communication skills
Ability to engage the business leaders in a non-technical conversation
Excellent presentation skills
Familiarity with WAN, VPNs, multicast, firewalls, DHCP, DNS, IP management, and network monitoring tools is preferred
