New Grad, Entry LevelATC is a professional office environment looking for an Accountant. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial reconciliations, preparing financial information in accordance with GAAP, and assisting with year-end and mid-year financial reporting processes.

Responsibilities
Preparation of financial reconciliations, analysis, construction work-in-progress ledger, mid-year and year-end closing entries and process
Preparation and presentation of the Turnpike System's financial information as required by GAAP, the Department of Transportation (Department) and the Department of Financial Services (DFS) requirements
Assist with the Turnpike's year-end and mid-year financial reporting closing processes
These processes include, but are not limited to, the preparation of necessary accrual, adjusting and/or correcting entries, analyzing pre-closing trial balances for accuracy and appropriateness, and ensuring all Department closing requirements are met in a timely manner
Research capital project expenses and reclassify them as fixed assets
Review and evaluate current processes relating to financial reporting and reconciliations
Recommend improvements as deemed appropriate and develop action plans for their implementation
Document policies and procedures
Qualification
Required
Professional office environment experience
Ability to multi-task and take initiative to troubleshoot issues
Ability to accept constructive criticism with a team player attitude
Excellent work ethic for the success of the department
Proficient in Excel
Knowledge of government accounting
Preparation of financial reconciliations
Preparation and presentation of financial information as required by GAAP
Assistance with year-end and mid-year financial reporting closing processes
Preparation of necessary accrual, adjusting and/or correcting entries
Analyzing pre-closing trial balances for accuracy and appropriateness
Ensuring all Department closing requirements are met in a timely manner
Researching capital project expenses and reclassifying them as fixed assets

Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures
