Supervisory Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Laboratory Supervisor)

Responsibilities
Responsible for all technical/administrative management of the multidisciplinary clinical laboratory services at the institution
Responsible for scheduling, which must be accomplished to provide coverage for a nine-hour period, five days a week, and provide for adequate coverage for assistance as needed during non-regular work hours
Plans and provides an integrated diagnostic testing program, which includes Hematology, Coagulation, Serology, Specimen Collection, Chemistry, Immunochemistry, and Urinalysis
Responsible for the coordination of all other laboratory testing to include Transfusion Services and microbiology testing to be performed by an outside contracting laboratory
Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis

U.S. Citizenship is Required
Degree: A Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree from a regionally accredited college/university including courses in biological science, chemistry and mathematics, AND successful completion of a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained
A full 4-year course of study that included 12 months in a college or hospital-based medical technology program or medical technology school approved by a recognized accrediting organization
Degree: A Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree from an accredited college/university, including 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of biological science (with one semester in microbiology), 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of chemistry (with one semester in organic or biochemistry), one semester (one quarter) of mathematics, AND five years of full time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, microbiology, Immunology and Urinalysis/Body Fluids
3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
At least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level
Knowledge of methods, techniques and procedures to perform job activities on various types of medical equipment and systems
Ability to relate and deal effectively with physicians, superiors, peers, and others
Knowledge of JCAHO standards, federal, state, and local government regulations
Ability to perform supervisory and administrative duties using principles and techniques of supervision
