Responsibilities

Provide local system administration and automated projects directly supporting the facility
Serve as Information Assurance Security Officer (IASO) for the facility
Responsible for the central computer facility security, as well as the security of all automated system
Repair defective hardware or arrange for repairs or replacement
Maintain accreditation documents and security SOPs for all automated systems

Required

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation
This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment
A background investigation and credit check are required
A Personnel Security Investigation is required
Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption
Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact
Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position
This position may require the incumbent to work on-call, holidays and weekends
This position requires the incumbent to obtain a COMP Tia Security+ certification within 6 months of employment
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social)
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application
Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing two or more of the following supporting information technology (IT) systems and services, conducting risk and vulnerability assessments; monitoring security measures, such as, configuration controls, audits, physical safeguards, vulnerability scans, systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools; assist customers with IT support and install or prepare implementation of IT systems
The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, three full years of graduate education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications

Federal employees in Alaska are currently entitled to receive a 1.49% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary.
