PHARMACIST EXECUTIVE
USAJOBS is seeking a PHARMACIST EXECUTIVE responsible for the overall management of the Pharmacy Benefits Management within the Veterans Integrated Service Network. The role involves oversight of pharmacy responsibilities and representing the VISN in efforts to improve Veteran care.

Responsibilities
Responsible for oversight and performance of a wide array of pharmacy responsibilities holding a position of high visibility and representing the VISN in nationwide efforts to improve Veteran care
Keeping VISN management informed of significant impacts on the VISN pharmaceutical budget and assists in coordinating professional and administrative pharmaceutical functions in all VISN facilities
Monitoring and trending all operational aspects of Pharmacy Services including pharmaceutical costs and workload at all sites, Consolidated Mail-Out Pharmacy (CMOP) utilization, National and VISN level pharmaceutical contract compliance, PBM aspects of the electronic health record modernization (EHRM), emergency pharmacy services, policy development and implementation, procurement, and formulary management initiatives
Providing guidance and oversight of clinical pharmacy activities including academic detailing, clinical pharmacy program development, pharmacy residency programs and Professional Practice Evaluation for pharmacists
Responsible for the operation of the VISN P&T Committee, including formulary maintenance, non-formulary drug use, contract compliance, adverse drug event (ADE) monitoring, pharmacological guideline implementation, and Pharmacy Quality Assurance
Represents the VISN on VA National Formulary decision-making bodies
Responsible for the overall VISN coordination, planning, and organizing of pharmacy programs through workgroups or councils such as Veteran Experience Committee, Clinical Contact Center Advisory Committee, Clinical Resource Hub Steering Committee, Pharmacy Chiefs, and Clinical Pharmacy Practice Council
Providing management with professional guidance and consultation on matters pertaining to clinical pharmacy, medical management systems, drug therapy, and cost-effective delivery of pharmaceutical care and services
Delegating authority to several supervisory and program levels to meet the goals of the service and staff serving as a resource in related matters
Advancing patient care services through the adoption of technology and the promotion of innovative practices and services
Keeping the VACO PBM promptly informed of any pharmacy-related issues of significant operational or clinical concern or that could potentially be of media interest
Qualification
Required
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a baccalaureate degree in pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) and/or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree
Must pass pre-employment physical examination
Must be proficient in written and spoken English
Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP)
All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment
Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959
Subject to background/security investigation
Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process
Must hold a full, current and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (i.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia
Preferred
An ASHP Accredited Pharmacy Residency Program
A Research Program that is accredited by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP)
Actively involved in committees or advisory/work groups at the VISN and/or National level
An ongoing pharmacy student rotation in both the intermediate and advanced practice experience settings
