Assistant United States Attorney - Criminal

The Central District of Illinois is seeking to fill two Assistant United States Attorney positions in the criminal division, located in Moline and Peoria, IL. The selected candidates will investigate and prosecute a variety of federal criminal cases, including violent crime, human trafficking, and white collar crime, while collaborating with law enforcement officials.

Responsibilities

The selected candidates will be involved in the investigation and prosecution of a wide variety of federal criminal cases, including violent crime, crimes against children, immigration, human trafficking, drugs, national security, firearms trafficking, and white collar crime
AUSAs work in cooperation with their colleagues, as well as federal, state, and local law enforcement officials
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress

Required

Applicants must possess a J.D. degree (or equivalent)
Be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction)
Have at least 2 years post-J.D. (or equivalent) legal or other relevant experience
Possess superior oral and written communication skills
Exhibit good judgment
Function with minimal guidance in a highly demanding environment
Must reside in the district to which appointed or within 25 miles thereof
You must be a United States Citizen or National
Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication, including fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing
Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
