Podiatrist (Section Chief-Ambulatory Care Service) Tyler VA Clinic
The VA North Texas Health Care System is currently recruiting for a Physician (Section Chief-Ambulatory Care Service) at the Tyler VA Primary Care Clinic, Tyler, Texas. The Section Chief will lead health care professionals to provide primary care to Veteran patients.

Responsibilities
Provide independent care delivery for chronic, acute/same-day medical needs. The type of care is served to the Veteran population, with diseases consistent with those seen in the general population, namely diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, mental health disorders, etc. A part of your responsibility is to write orders for diagnostic testing, prescribe medications, consult with specialty services, and utilize computerized/electronic medical records. The major function of the position includes Health Risk Assessment, goal setting for prevention, and chronic disease management. A major focus is on preventive medicine with a focus on achieving positive patient outcomes, improving coordination of care, decreasing clinic waits or delays and appropriate use of resources
Provide direct patient care, including, but not limited to, history and physicals, medication management, evaluation of diagnostic tests and treatment planning, and clinical reminder completion as applicable
Function as a leader in the PACT approach in the delivery of care, which emphasizes a team-based approach to healthcare. Oversee PACTs compliance to Message Manager, MyHealtheVet, and encounter completion. Proficient in Tele-Health to home visits (VA Video Connect), and Comprehensive Women's Health care
Document all medical information in an electronic medical record
Perform medication reconciliation
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Applicants must possess a doctor of podiatric medicine degree
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
Degree of doctor of podiatric medicine, or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in podiatric medicine and surgery. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed
Applicants must possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice podiatry medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
Podiatrists must have completed residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification
Must be proficient in written and spoken English
All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment
Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959
Subject to background/security investigation
Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process
Must pass pre-employment physical examination
Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP)
You may be required to serve a probationary period
Preferred
Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
Primary Care leadership experience and excellent communication skills
Knowledge of regulations and preparation for accreditation surveys, i.e. Joint Commission, OIG, etc
