The Indian Health Service (IHS) is dedicated to improving the health of American Indian and Alaska Native people. The Physician will provide comprehensive, patient-centered medical care, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and management of health needs within their specialty.

Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive, patient-centered medical care including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute, chronic, and preventive health needs within specialty
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe, effective, and coordinated care
Responds to acute emergency interventions, working closely in consultation with members of other medical departments as deemed appropriate by the clinical problem
Qualification
Required
U.S. Citizenship is required
Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959
Board Certification in the specialty of position applied for
Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
At least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program
3 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training
Verification of board certification in physician specialty of announcement applied OR if board certification lapsed or completed an accredited residency program (in excess of 3 years) must provide verification of active pursuit to become board certified with an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) member board
Must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint check and background investigation
Must set up direct deposit for payment
Must maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements
