Health Technician - Monitor Technician
USAJOBS is seeking a Health Technician to work in the Acute Care Service at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System. Responsibilities
Provides customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures
Knowledge of telemetry equipment to assist in providing safer and proper functioning of equipment
Recognizes and reports changes in patient's telemetry reading outside the established parameters to appropriate personnel
Answers telephone and replies or refers calls appropriately
Recognizes potentially emergent situations to respond as necessary
Communicates and treats customers in courteous, tactful and respectful manner
Performs telemetry monitoring activities including; initiation, recording, documenting, interpreting and discontinuing telemetry
Measures and interprets telemetry readings on hard copy printouts
Recognizes and reports changes in patient's telemetry reading outside the established parameters to appropriate personnel
Other duties as assigned

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization
Basic understanding of medical terminology and the process of recording and transmitting the readings of telemetry equipment
Experience in assistance of a technical, specialized, or support nature to health and medical personnel in the diagnosis of treatment of cardiac rhythm or medical conditions
Experience in arrhythmia reviews such as taking, recording, and reporting to nursing staff deviations in rhythms
Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week
You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Communications, Customer Service (Clerical/Technical), Diagnostic Medical Testing
Physical Requirements: This position requires employees to use visual accuracy and dexterity, and sitting for the tour of duty
The applicant may continuously observe up to eight (8) monitors in an eight (8) hour period
There is significant eye fatigue and stress as the work is repetitious and critical to the care and survival of multiple patients assigned within the Acute Care Service and on the in-patient telemetry unit
The employee's work setting is located on the inpatient Telemetry unit within the Acute Care Service
The employee adheres to universal precautions
