Clinical Pharmacist- Associate Service Chief
USAJOBS is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to serve as the Associate Service Chief at the Malcom Randall Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The role involves planning, directing, and coordinating comprehensive pharmacy services while providing oversight and leadership for pharmacy services in the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System.

Responsibilities
Leads the Pharmacy Service in providing exceptional care to Veterans
In coordination with the Pharmacy Chief utilizes sound personnel management practices in administration by selecting qualified professional/supportive personnel and assigning personnel in accordance with knowledge, skills and abilities
Advises the Pharmacy Chief in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating the entire operation in order to maintain efficiency and economy. Develops and implements strategic plan for the expansion and/or reengineering of pharmacy operations, workflow, automation
Critically monitors clinicians to assure acceptable performance. Likewise, continually reviews programs to assure objectives are achieved
Maintains plans to promote therapeutic appropriateness, responsiveness and safety of drug use
Implements and maintains plans to strengthen managed care and on-going quality improvement
Gathers, coordinates, and reports data for various reports and functions on an as needed or required basis. Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with other services to maintain the highest quality of patient care and harmonious working environment for employees
May participate in patient care support as a pharmacist on an ongoing basis. This may include a Scope of Practice for disease state management or prescription review, processing, preparation and dispensing in outpatient areas
Oversees performance improvement projects and quality assurance measures
Formulates policy and procedure in the design and implementation of pharmaceutical care to ensure safety and efficiency
Other duties as assigned

English Language Proficiency. Pharmacists must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d)
Education: Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a baccalaureate degree in pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) and/or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree
Graduates of foreign pharmacy degree programs meet the educational requirement if the graduate is able to provide proof of achieving the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Commission (FPGEC) Certification
Licensure: Full, current and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (i.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia
Experience. In addition to the GS-13 requirements, must have 1 year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level
Ability to negotiate to influence clinical and management decisions
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing regarding complex clinical and technical issues
Skill in utilizing regulatory and quality standards to develop and implement operational programs
Skill in managing multiple and diverse people or programs
Skill in utilizing available resources to support the mission and goals of the organization
Ability to plan, organize and direct the functions of the pharmacy staff
Preferred
Experience with supervising pharmacy operations and clinical services
Knowledge in pharmacy regulatory management
