Responsibilities
Leads the work of the Military Pay Technicians engaged in processing pay entitlement, bonuses, leave, and personnel actions to the master Military Pay Account
Assures timely completion of assigned work, adjusts assignments to meet priorities, obtains assistance from the supervisor on serious problems that arise
Prepares reports outlining the nature of the problem, recommend solution, and impact on processing procedures
Answers all types of technical and complex correspondence and inquiries concerning active duty military pay
Performs quality control examination on completed actions of Military Pay Technicians to ensure and determine validity, accuracy and adequacy of action taken
Oversees the work distribution and ensures timely accomplishment of assigned workload. The incumbent remains in touch with the status and progress of work, and makes day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities

Obtain/Maintain Financial Management Certification
New employees to the Defense Finance and Accounting Service will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
To be hired at the GS-7 entry grade level, applicants must minimally have: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-06) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required
Specialized Experience is defined as: Reviewing work for technical adequacy and compliance with established policies and procedures; processing a wide variety of complex military pay audits; Examining and verifying all documents for propriety, completeness and accuracy. Running reports to monitor workload and providing technical support on standard procedures to coworkers
Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-6 or higher grade in Federal Service
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications
Preferred
One (1) year of graduate education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement when education is directly related to the position being filled
Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements
