LEAD QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (AIRCRAFT)

Responsibilities
You will be responsible for leading a team of engineering technicians performing configuration control and quality assurance inspections for all project installations/configuration changes on assigned aircraft
You will execute the project installation plan, ensure timely and accurate documentation of configuration changes and quality inspections, and work with project engineers by coordinating the availability of aircraft and support equipment
You will coordinate with the Platform Coordinator, Project Officer, Project Engineers, and Maintenance Control personnel to distribute and balance the workload among employees and ensure timely accomplishment of assigned tasks
You will be the delegated authority to accept, reject, and/or stop work at any time during the installation process in order to correct deficiencies in workmanship, installation, design, or system operational testing
You will recommend changes to equipment configurations and installations to help achieve optimum equipment reliability
You will utilize the Aircraft Weight and Balance System (AWBS) to ensure Weight and Balance Technicians are making appropriate entries in the assigned aircraft logbooks upon completion of each action
Qualification
Required
Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326

This is a bargaining unit position
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing the following information systems, applications, and databases: Automated Weight and Balance System (AWBS), Naval Data Distribution System (NDDS), Flight Information Scheduling and Tracking (FIST), Aircraft Modification Requests (AMR), Naval Aviation Project Activity Support System (NAVPASS), Optimized Organizational Maintenance Activity (OOMA), ePOWER, iPlan, and iReport; 2) Inspecting using standard and non-standard equipment including pre-installation integrity and weight verification, post-installation structural and electrical integrity verification, and using standards of conformance as they pertain to aircraft structures, equipment, wiring, and hardware; 3) Following NAMP requirements for Tool Control and Foreign Object Damage (FOD) Prevention, and applying those requirements to those permanently assigned and transient personnel working on squadron owned or supported aircraft in support of non-standard aircraft modification installation, repair, testing, and removal; and 4) Serving as an Aircraft Weight and Balance Technician or Officer
