USAJOBS is seeking an IT Specialist (Network Services/Systems Administration) to serve as the senior system administrator for the National Guard. The role involves planning, directing, and coordinating the installation, maintenance, and support of Command and Control (C2) mission systems, as well as providing Information Assurance support.

Responsibilities

Serve as the senior system administrator providing planning, directing, and coordinating of Command and Control (C2) missions systems' installation, maintenance and support

Serves as lead system administrator, trainer and supervisor, and provides Information Assurance (IA) support

For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed

For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment

The employee's normal duty days and hours may require rotating shifts and/or days

Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day

The employee may be required to travel on military and commercial vehicles and aircraft to perform temporary duty

The employee must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance

Employee must obtain and maintain Security+ certification and may be required to obtain and maintain Linux+ or other certifications I.A.W. DoD 8570 and local requirements

This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use

3+ years' experience with the Linux operating system is highly desirable

Experience, education, and/or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process

1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade

Must have experience with a broad range of IT principles, methods, advancements, policies, systems concepts and analysis, design, development, testing and applications to include hardware and software

Must have experience and skill in supporting the parent organization's and subordinate organizations' network architecture, topology and protocols

Ability to study existing architecture of installation systems and test possible enhancements

Knowledge of, and skill to install and maintain software and hardware, control current versions and future releases of application software, and document the physical configuration of the organization's information systems and command and control (C2) systems

Ability to review and coordinate contractor-related requests and to serve as a consultant on IT projects

Ability to provide expert technical advice, guidance and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on critical IT and C2 issues
