Staff Psychologist - Education Debt Reduction Program, Recruitment/Relocation Incentive Authorized
The USAJOBS is seeking a Staff Psychologist for the West Texas VA Health Care System. This position involves providing a full range of psycho-diagnostic services, including assessments and evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions for diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities
Providing a full range of psycho-diagnostic services, including assessment & using the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in providing quality care
Performing evaluations for a wide array of patients representing diverse diagnostic entities
Providing evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, as indicated and appropriate for the specific setting & duties of the Psychologist, which may include individual, family & group psychotherapy & psychoeducation
Providing education to patients, family members & significant others regarding mental disorders & best practices
Fully assessing mental health disorders utilizing clinical interviews, psychological screeners &/or assessment
Delivering a wide range of VHA-approved Evidence Based Psychotherapies including, but not limited to: Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, Interpersonal Therapy for Depression, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Depression, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy for Depression, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Chronic Pain, etc
Providing in-person &/or telemental health modalities, such as Clinical Video Teleconferencing or VHA Video Connect
Complying with Behavioral Health (BH) Service documentation requirements, including standards for timely completion of patient contact notes, use of required documentation templates, clinical reminders, treatment plans, risk assessment protocols & proper patient checkout procedures
Adhering to all service policies and procedures established by BH Leadership
Complying with all facility and VHA policies & expectations concerning administrative practices, including but not limited to leave authorization, documentation & completing Talent Management Service educational requirements
Complying with national and local performance measures (e.g., SAIL) and facilitating organizational success on these measures at the section or program level
Assisting in the selection, training & supervision staff at lower grade within assigned program area, BH Service, or facility, as needed
Assisting BH Leadership in executing ongoing program evaluation & data-driven quality improvement projects to monitor the effectiveness of the clinical program
Attending regular BH meetings, Medical Staff meetings & complying with Psychology peer review procedures
Other responsibilities as assigned
Qualification
Required
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
Education: Have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by American Psychological Association (APA), Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS) or Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time the program was completed
Internships: Have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program that was accredited by APA or CPA at the time the program was completed
Licensure: Hold a full, current and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia
English Language Proficiency: Psychologists must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3j
Preferred
Experience in delivering evidence-based psychotherapies
Experience in delivering unscheduled (i.e., same day) care and crisis management
Experience facilitating care for patients with serious mental illness, PTSD and substance use disorder
Experience working in a VA Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program section
Experience working on an interdisciplinary team
