Marine Equipment Repairer/Operator (Dual Rate)

Responsibilities

You will work under the general supervision of the engineer on watch
You will oil and grease all machinery
You will monitor all machinery on regular rounds
You will check bilges and operate bilge pumps
You will operate manifold switch oil level from one tank to another
You will assist in making repairs to diesel engines
You will conduct routine maintenance of diesel propulsion system, pumping and auxiliary systems ventilation controls auxiliary engines, automatic control consoles, sanitary and lubrication systems

Required

You must possess a current United States Coast Guard (USCG) Merchant Mariner Credentials (MMC) with a Qualified Member of the Engine Department (QMED) with Oiler's Rating or higher
You must possess a current Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)
Ability to do the work of a Marine Equipment Repairer/Operator (Dual Rate) without more than normal supervision
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter
This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 95% of the time
Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration
You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship
Direct Deposit of Pay is required
Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation
