Clinical Psychologist (Service Chief) (Deputy, Associate Chief of Staff)
The Central Alabama VA Health Care System is seeking a Clinical Psychologist to serve as the Deputy, Associate Chief of Staff for the Mental Health Service Line. The role involves overseeing clinical operations, ensuring compliance with standards, and participating in strategic planning to enhance patient care services.

Responsibilities
Serves as the Deputy, Associate Chief of Staff (DACOS) for the Mental Health Service Line
Works with supervisors, managers, and team leaders in the service line to achieve and maintain high standards of performance
Works collegially with all other managers and/or supervisors to accomplish the clinical goals and strategic plans of the organization
Participates in organizational planning to include strategic, operational, programmatic, and other plans and policies to achieve the mission and vision of the Medical Center
Participates in the development of long and short-term goals for the Mental Health service and the organization
Functions as advisor to the Associate Chief of Staff, Mental Health, Chief of Staff, Associate Director, Associate Director for Patient Care Services, and Facility Director on issues related to the provision of direct patient care by service staff
Functions as a supervisor to Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Psychologists, and Social Workers
Facilitates compliance with standards established by oversight and regulatory entities such as Joint Commission, CARF, OSHA, CAP, and OIG
Ensures timely completion of all program evaluations and documents required by the Medical Center, VISN, and VACO
Prepares requests for funding proposals and grant proposals
Develops and participates in service and facility performance improvement activities
Complies with the green environmental management system goals
Complies with cultural transformation and patient centered care goals
Supports patient centered culture at the medical center
Oversees the establishment of program monitors and outcome measurements for the service and uses data-driven quality assurance processes in these monitors and measurements

Have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time the program was completed
Have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program that was accredited by APA or CPA at the time the program was completed
Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia
Psychologists must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3j
At least three years of experience as a professional psychologist, with at least one year equivalent to the GS-13 grade level
Ability to organize work, set priorities, delegate tasks, and meets multiple deadlines
Knowledge of and ability to utilize evidence based practices and clinical practice guidelines appropriately and ability to guide staff in using these tools
Ability to deal effectively with individuals or groups
Skill in managing and directing the work of others to accomplish program goals and objectives
Ability to translate management goals and objectives into well-coordinated and controlled work operations
Ability to establish and monitor production and performance priorities and standards
Ability to analyze organizational and operational problems and to develop and implement solutions that result in sound operation of the program
