The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is seeking a Sheet Metal Mechanic Supervisor I to oversee operations in the Structural Shop, Production Resources Department. The role involves conducting safety meetings, mentoring staff, and ensuring compliance with production operations manuals.

Responsibilities
You will conduct safety meetings
You will be knowledgeable with all aspects of the Production Operations Manual, PRODEPT M5250.1 latest Rev
You will attend various training and development programs, supervisors’ conferences, and transmit information to subordinates
You will take time to mentor, develop and train your workforce
Qualification
Required
Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program

You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present
You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements
