INSULATOR SUPERVISOR I
NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD is seeking an Insulator Supervisor I to oversee subordinate workers in the Pipe Shop. The role involves ensuring the quality and quantity of work, planning the use of resources, and supporting EEO policies.

Responsibilities
You will serve as a first line Insulator Supervisor charged with exercising supervision over subordinate workers
You will have technical accountability for the quantity and quality of the work performed by subordinates
You will be responsible for carrying out EEO policies and communicating support of these policies to subordinates
You will lay out work from written or verbal instructions
You will have qualifications in basic nuclear courses
You will plan the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials and tools provided through the (AIM) process for assigned units of work
Qualification
Required
Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present
You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements
This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job
Ability to Obtain Nuclear Qualifications
Interpret oral and/or written instructions, procedures, blueprints, sketches, or TGI/CU's
Knowledge of insulator techniques and materials
Proficient in using both hand and power tools
Measure, fit, cut, trim, shave and shear material
Fabricates molded sections of insulation for special applications using a miter box or band saw
Prepare removable pads or replace sections of insulation by making paper patterns as necessary, cutting an insulating material and sewing parts together on electric sewing machine
Wrap cloth or other fabric over insulation and sew the seams and joins using special tie line, and needle and sailmakers palm
Ability to perform routine insulating work
Ability to secure insulation in place with wire, metal straps or cement
Assemble task packages, material staging and coordination of release
