GENERAL ENGINEER (RIGGING & WHE)

TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY is seeking a GENERAL ENGINEER (RIGGING & WHE) to provide project management expertise and engineering services for weight handling in support of nuclear submarines. The role involves developing and scheduling projects, reviewing engineering documents, and providing technical direction for weight handling equipment.

Responsibilities

You will provide project management expertise and engineering services for specific problems, projects, and programs related to weight handling in support of the overhaul, modification, modernization, conversion, or repair of nuclear submarines
You will develop, direct, and schedule projects to support the weight handling equipment and/or procedure needs of the command
You will review engineering documents produced by other branch personnel to ensure technical adequacy and accuracy in the area of weight handling (rigging) and be responsible for the timely dissemination of such products
You will provide technical direction to develop plans and specifications for the procurement and upgrading of weight handling equipment
You will evaluate and make recommendations on weight handling equipment alternatives and weight handling processes relative to day-to-day command operations and weight handling needs
You will provide specialized technical expertise to the weight handling equipment maintenance and production shops for the resolution of weight handling equipment problems
You will provide specialized consultation to the weight handling equipment test and inspection group regarding crane test procedures, documentation requirements, and interpretation of program instructions

Required

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree
Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States
Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
This is a bargaining unit position
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer planning or coordinating a rigging or weight handling project to ensure the efficiency of a conversion or repair project
