Responsibilities
Supports, counsels, and motivates students to meet or exceed grade-level standards; draws on personal knowledge of the individual student's personality, background, and interests when discussing learning issues, achievements, and conduct in class
Adheres to and, when applicable, implements safety and security procedures; contributes to creating a school climate conducive to learning, achievement, and citizenship
Provides instruction. assessment, and program planning for preschool aged students with a range of disabilities including intellectual, physical, communication, learning, and emotional disabilities
Provides educational intervention strategies to include diagnostic-prescriptive instruction in a variety of settings to include but not limited to preschool classroom, resource room, general education classroom, consultation and collaboration
Works collaboratively with community and school to identify children at risk for below proficiency performance in school
Works with the CSC to provide pre-referral interventions, administer screening tests, and as necessary, administer diagnostic tests in the five developmental areas: physical, communication, cognitive, social/emotional, and adaptive
Works with Early Intervention Program (EIP) personnel to ensure a seamless transition for three year olds matriculating from early intervention services and enrolling in a DoDEA school
Differentiates instructions for individual student learning styles and unique learning needs
Provides consultant services to parents and school personnel to facilitate carry-over of pre-academic and behavioral skills into the home and classroom
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
A major in special education or a minimum of 30 semester hours in special education is required. Course work must include a minimum of 12 semester hours directly related to preschool or early childhood education
State or Territory Certification/License. A valid fully professional state teaching license in content areas or the state's equivalent (as DoDEA determines comparable to DoDEA's teacher categories) will be accepted as fulfilling all qualifications for professional teaching education and certification in content areas
Minimum Academic Preparation and Requirements. A baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting association is required. Academic preparation of at least 40 semester hours (SH) in general education course work distributed over such fields as English, history, social studies, mathematics, fine arts, languages, science, philosophy, and psychology is required. In addition, a minimum of 18 SH of professional teacher education course work in such areas as learning process, tests and measurement, educational philosophy, psychology, social foundations, methods of teaching and curriculum applicable to the type and level of the position for which applying is required

Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation
This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age
You will be required to sign a mobility agreement, be available for worldwide placement, and be willing to rotate to any DoDEA location
