ARCHITECT/ENGINEER (Title 32)

The Department of the Air Force is seeking an ARCHITECT/ENGINEER (Title 32) for the IL 182 AW, National Guard. Responsibilities

Perform acquisition, construction, maintenance, repair, and operation of real property facilities
Provide management, engineering, and other support work related to facility operations
Furnish snow removal, pest control, fire prevention, and engineering services activities
Prepare or direct the preparation of engineering and architectural drawings, specifications, and cost estimates
Review architectural drawings, sketches, and specifications for adequacy, constructability, and compliance
Exercise authority in planning, directing, and coordinating architectural and engineering activities
Apply engineering concepts and technical calculations to resolve problems in civil, mechanical, electrical, or general engineering
Utilize program and planning documents in determining facility requirements
Participate as a technical consultant in conferences with Architectural-Engineering firms
Provide technical instructions and information on engineering requirements to subordinate personnel
Analyze operational trends and forecast facility and engineering requirements
Resolve complex design and construction problems in coordination with engineers, contractors, and stakeholders
Identify and discuss problems as well as corrective actions with leadership and staff
Develop engineered solutions to technical problems beyond the ability of subordinates
Reprogram activities to meet changes in mission and objectives
Plan, schedule, and assign work for engineering projects and facility programs
Oversee development and time phasing of maintenance and construction programs
Coordinate acquisition and use of money, manpower, equipment, and material for projects
Direct establishment and maintenance of record drawings, project files, and budget data
Develop and maintain effective staff relationships with base and tenant organizations

This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the Illinois National Guard and in the military grade listed in the announcement
Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform
Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment
Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation
May be required to successfully complete a trial period
May be required to successfully complete a supervisor probationary period
This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968
Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
This position requires and is contingent upon maintaining current registration/licensure as a professional architect by a State registration board
MUST possess one of the following: Degree in Architecture or Combination of education and experience
MUST possess at least one year of experience equivalent to the lower grade level in the Federal service in order to be considered for this position
MUST possess experience in managing the function of work to be performed; Experience that includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel
