Industrial Equipment Mechanic

Responsibilities

Basic knowledge of mechanical theory
Understands and uses safe work practices
Has the knowledge to perform preventive maintenance of fixed and/or movable mechanical systems
Knowledge regarding the use and need or personal protective equipment
Able to work in areas of moving machinery, loud noises, high steam pressure, exposure to electrical shock
Has ability to read and follow blueprints and/or schematics, specifications, and manuals
Must be able to weld, braze and solder various types of metal
Has the basic skills necessary to use all hand and power operated equipment necessary to complete the tasks assigned
Apply special care when performing maintenance tasks within occupied areas so that the safety and security of all patients, visitors and staff is maintained
Maintenance and repair to the following equipment/systems: laundry equipment, nutrition and food equipment, internal combustion engines, air compressors, pumps, valves, and grounds maintenance equipment
Use amp meters, volt/ohm meters, arc welders, torches, automotive test equipment, machine tools, micro meters, power drills, saws and grinders
Receives work assignments from foreman in the form of work orders, sketches, drawings, blueprints, written and oral methods
Must be able to diagnose and repair machinery having interrelated components of electric, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic operation

Physical Requirements: Required to push, crawl, bend, and climb for sustained periods of time. Occasionally required to lift heavy equipment (more than 55lbs). At times required to work in hot, cold and humid weather conditions
Working Conditions: Incumbent is exposed to heat, restricted ventilation and poor illumination in areas such as equipment rooms. Exposed to all weather conditions when working outside
