PLASTIC FABRICATOR HELPER TRAINEE

Responsibilities

You will assist journeyman plastic fabricators by performing the less skilled duties of the trade
You will engage in joint operation with the journeymen as instructed
You will perform simple elements of the plastic fabricator trade
You will assist journeyman mechanic in the installation, repair, alteration, manufacture, fabrication, assembly, maintenance of equipment and components
You will repair faired masts, ray-domes, gaskets and grommets
You will perform sand blasting, cutting fiberglass cloth, stripping hand wheels, cutting gaskets, polishing, grinding, simple lamination using procuring tools and materials

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check

You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination

You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
Work is performed in shops, aboard ships and submarines which require lifting, turning, pulling, pushing, standing, crouching, kneeling, bending and reaching
This position requires hand and finger dexterity
This position requires work performed in confined spaces
This position requires the use of ladders and/or scaffolding
This position requires the lifting, carrying and setting up of tools and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds
This position requires visual acuity
