Staff Psychologist - VISN 23 Clinical Resource Hub

The Veterans Health Administration is looking for a Staff Psychologist to join the VISN 23 Clinical Resource Hub. This role involves diagnosing and treating a wide range of mental disorders, conducting psychological assessments, and providing various therapeutic modalities to veterans.

Responsibilities

Contributes to the gathering of biopsychosocial assessment information
Develops a detailed treatment plan for veterans serviced by the VISN 23 Clinical Resource Hub Mental Health
Provides recovery planning and psychological treatment to Veterans with a wide range of co-occurring disorders, including but not limited to anxiety, PTSD, depression, substance use, and personality disorders
Participates as a member of an interdisciplinary team providing a full range of psychological services (including group psychotherapy) within an outpatient virtual treatment setting
Provides evidence-based individual and group psychotherapy to veterans with a variety and/or complex mental health problems, especially as regards to adaptation and rehabilitation. Treatment approaches may include but are not limited to: brief cognitive behavioral therapy for chronic pain, brief cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia, acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, prolonged exposure, cognitive processing therapy, and/or dialectical behavioral therapy
Administers, scores, and evaluates psychodiagnostic tests, including neurocognitive screening as appropriate
Utilizes measurement-based care routinely
Participates as a member of medical center hospital committees as directed
Serves as an advisor, consultant and/or resource person to the staff within the medical center
Maintains appropriate records and follow-up data on patients who are their responsibility
Serves as a member of the planning group for evaluating the effectiveness of the treatment program and modifying it to better serve the needs of the patient
Complies with national and local performance measures, including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders for all patients
Complies with all CPRS documentation procedures, including timeliness standards for documentation and proper patient check out procedures (e.g., entering diagnostic and procedure codes, completing encounters, and signing or co-signing notes)
Attends and participates in administrative and informational meetings as held by VISN 23 Clinical Resource Hub
Attends regular Psychology Service staff meetings, Medical Staff meetings, Mental Health Staff meetings and complies with Psychology Service peer review procedures
Provides clinical instruction for psychology interns or other psychology trainees as assigned

Basic Requirements: (a) United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
(b) English Language Proficiency: Per VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, Section A, Paragraph 3j: No person will be appointed under authority of 38 U.S.C., chapter 73 or 74, to serve in a direct patient-care capacity in VHA who is not proficient in written and spoken English
(c) Education Requirement - You must have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time the program was completed
(d) Internship Requirement - You must have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program that was accredited by APA or CPA at the time the program was completed
(e) Licensure: Candidates must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia

Preferred

It is preferred to have advanced knowledge of psychological diagnosis, intervention, and behavioral health as it impacts and is impacted by health-related conditions that qualifies him/her to provide advice and consultation to professionals representing a variety of disciplines
Previous PCMHI experience is preferred
