Quality Engineer / R&D Engineer 2
Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution focused on national security. The R&D Engineer 2 will support the Production Agency Quality group by ensuring that quality assurance results and processes meet specifications and requirements, applying quality-control techniques, and participating in assessments.

Responsibilities
Support Production Agency Quality for Quality Engineering (PAQ-1) group by ensuring quality assurance results, materials, processes and final products meet quality specifications and are completed according to established requirements
Apply quality-control techniques and statistical process control methods to ensure processes follow current procedures, correct measurement methods, tools, and/or systems are used; identify data-collection points and analyze data in order to identify failure modes, track trends, focus on improvement actions, rate performance and measure effectiveness
Define, identify and apply product and process control methods such as reviewing requirements, processing nonconformances and corrective actions, developing and validating work instructions, preparing, reviewing and approving quality documentation, participating in internal and external assessments and reviewing measuring and test equipment (M&TE)
Identify and ensure all calibration systems are traceable to calibration standards
Qualification
Required
Candidates shall obtain or possess and maintain a Q level clearance
shall participate in Human Reliability Program (HRP)
may be required to support Alternative or Backshift Work schedules, as necessary

Demonstrated/thorough/advanced knowledge of and experience in engineering disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, nuclear, chemical, or industrial
Demonstrated/thorough interpretation of various physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings and schematics
thorough knowledge of ASME Y14.5M standard, mechanical inspection, machining tolerances, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and assembly processes
Experience working in production manufacturing
Demonstrated/thorough knowledge of, and experience in, conducting troubleshooting, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting quality assurance using processes such as root cause analysis, continuous improvement, configuration management, visual management, metrology, auditing, etc
Provide thorough and accurate documentation of technical and/or statistical reports and ensure quality assurance compliance
Demonstrated/thorough knowledge of and experience using national consensus standards of quality assurance, such as ASME, ISO 9001, IPC, ANSI/ASME, AS9100, NQA-1, etc
Thorough/advanced knowledge creating and improving processes and procedures for use by internal or external personnel
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution and 4 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation
Requires a BS in engineering or related science, 2 years of job-related experience and 1 year of Nuclear Experience
Preferred
Q clearance and HRP
Knowledge of 10 CFR 830 with experience in nuclear processing and/or high hazard facility operating requirements, safety/authorization basis and/or Conduct of Operations planning and execution
Nationally recognized quality engineering related certification such as American Society of Quality's Certified Quality Engineer, Reliability Engineer, or equivalent
Knowledgeable of quality system requirements, manufacturing and processes
