General Motors Trained Service Technician

Scranton Chevrolet of Norwich is seeking a General Motors Trained Service Technician to join their busy service department. The role involves diagnosing and repairing a wide range of vehicle issues, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining GM certification. The ideal candidate will have strong diagnostic skills and the ability to work on various makes and models of vehicles.

Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic tests to identify issues with vehicles and determine appropriate repairs
Effectively use diagnostic equipment and technical information systems to efficiently troubleshoot and repair vehicles
Conduct routine maintenance on vehicles, including oil changes, tire rotations, and tune-ups
Accurately record diagnoses and repairs in electronic systems and communicate findings to service advisors and customers
Ensure all repairs and services are completed within estimated time frames and meet dealership quality standards
Maintain a clean and organized workspace and adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines
Continuously expand knowledge and skills through ongoing training and certification programs
Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a professional and positive demeanor at all times

Qualification

Required

A-level or GM Master technician certification
Maintain GM certification
Valid driver's license
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
Ability to diagnose a wide range of issues including engines, transmissions, suspensions, and electronic systems
Excellent customer service skills
Experience as a technician in GMC/Chevrolet shop
Understanding of GM warranty, policies, and procedures
Ability to understand evaporation systems, secondary air systems, charge pressure control systems, electric power steering systems, abs/traction control systems, and suspension control systems
Understand suspension geometry and identify bent or damaged suspension components
Strong driveability diagnostics skills
Ability to perform routine maintenance including oil changes, tire rotations, and tune-ups
Ability to effectively use diagnostic equipment and technical information systems
Ability to accurately record diagnoses and repairs in electronic systems
Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace and adhere to safety protocols
Willingness to continuously expand knowledge and skills through ongoing training and certification programs

Preferred

Knowledge of Reynolds and Reynolds (advanced service)
Master level training or able to complete within the next physical quarter
