Responsibilities

Prepare commissioning plans, specifications and checklists based on Burns & McDonnell standards
Review designs, equipment submittals, operation and maintenance manual to develop commissioning plans, start-up reports and checklists
Develop and implement clear startup procedures as required by clients
Direct project teams to manage project checkout and testing activities. Provide leadership with technical staff activities to complete startup system testing
Oversee project deliverables for contract execution
Development and refinement of methodologies, tools, and standards in support of an evolving commissioning department
Lead meetings with owner, operation and maintenance, design and construction personnel to understand project goals and schedule to ensure commissioning is properly coordinated
Develop tools for tracking and reporting commissioning status to upper management, reporting progress and tracking project cost
Recruit, retain, train, develop, and mentor department staff
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
Masters degree may substitute for 1 year of experience
Minimum 7 years of mechanical engineering experience required, consulting preferred
Advanced knowledge in mechanical or electrical engineering commissioning techniques, principles and procedures
Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients
Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills
Ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change
Demonstrated project management skills and a strategic perspective
Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
Understanding of site safety procedures, including electrical safety
