Responsibilities
Trains and instructs mechanics on vehicle repair procedures
Diagnoses the problem based on information obtained from the driver. Performs N.C. vehicle safety inspections
Assists in managing garage operations
Assists other mechanics in diagnosing and repairing vehicle defects
Services and repairs a variety of County vehicles to include working on complex electrical and computerized systems
Maintaining a specific license such as a driver's license in good standing, without a lapse or loss of a privilege to drive in compliance with North Carolina law, and in compliance with applicable DOT standards for commercial motor vehicle drivers if required to perform the duties assigned to the position
Performs related duties as required
Qualification
Required
Graduation from high school and four years of experience working with computerized and electrical automotive systems
Must possess ASE Certifications and be eligible to receive and pass GM or AC Delco specialized electronics training
Must have a valid N.C. driver's license
Must have the ability to obtain a N.C. Vehicle Inspection License
Considerable knowledge of computerized and electrical systems
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees
Ability to organize and direct the work of subordinates
Ability to diagnose accurately the cause of mechanical failures
Working knowledge of the hazards and applicable safety precautions of mechanical work
Thorough knowledge of the uses of a variety of repair tools and special testing equipment
Thorough knowledge of the theory, care, and operation of gasoline engines
