They are seeking a Lawyer or Attorney to lead their collections and subrogation department, combining legal analysis with practical negotiation and leadership skills to manage recovery and subrogation cases.

Travel

Responsibilities

Supervise and mentor a staff of two collection associates

Oversee and manage high-volume collections and subrogation caseloads involving freight damage, cargo loss, and liability recovery

Analyze liability, damages, and contractual terms to determine recovery potential

Negotiate settlements and payment agreements with insurers, shippers, and other responsible parties

Draft and review demand letters, settlement agreements, and related legal correspondence

Collaborate with in-house and outside counsel when litigation is necessary

Monitor statutes of limitation, ensure compliance with legal standards, and maintain accurate documentation

Report recovery metrics and performance results to management

Provide guidance on legal and procedural best practices within the department
