Lead Full Stack Engineer, Internal Systems
Connecticut Innovations is Connecticut’s strategic venture capital arm, passionate about serving its portfolio of companies. The Lead Full Stack Engineer will spearhead the architecture and development of internal data applications, driving efforts to build a cloud-native web app that integrates proprietary data pipelines and AI services.
Responsibilities
Define the technical vision and system design for internal data applications; translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable architectures
Build and maintain front‑end (e.g., React/TypeScript) and back‑end services (Python/FastAPI, Node.js, or Go) that integrate seamlessly with Google Cloud services and proprietary code
Collaborate with data engineering to expose curated datasets via REST/GraphQL APIs; design efficient data‑access layers and caching strategies for high‑throughput analytics
Own CI/CD, container orchestration (GKE/Cloud Run), infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform), observability, and cost management
Implement authentication/authorization, encryption in transit/at rest, and least‑privilege IAM; partner with IT to meet HIPAA and SOC 2 goals
Optimize latency and throughput; design for fault tolerance, auto‑scaling, and zero‑downtime deploys
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to full‑stack and data‑engineering teammates; establish coding standards and best practices
Work closely with neuroscientists, product owners, AI/ML engineers, and cloud architects to deliver features that unlock scientific insight
Qualification
Required
7 + years building production‑grade full‑stack applications; 3 + years in an architect or principal engineer role
Expertise with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (React, Next.js, or similar) and backend development in Python, Node.js, Go, or Java
Deep understanding of cloud‑native architectures on Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Cloud Storage) and experience designing secure VPC networks
Proven track record deploying microservices with Docker & Kubernetes; hands‑on with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Cloud Build) and infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, Pulumi, or Deployment Manager)
Strong database design skills across relational (PostgreSQL) and analytical stores (BigQuery); familiarity with NoSQL (Firestore, MongoDB) and graph stores is a plus
Experience integrating real‑time or batch data pipelines (Dataflow / Apache Beam, Kafka) into web applications
Solid grounding in web security, OAuth/OIDC, and role‑based access control
Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills; ability to translate complex technical concepts for non‑technical audiences
Passion for Bexorg's mission and enthusiasm for working at the intersection of neuroscience, big data, and AI
Preferred
Exposure to biology, genomics, or scientific imaging data
Experience embedding data‑visualization libraries (Plotly, D3.js) in production apps
Familiarity with ML Ops, feature stores, and serving AI models at scale
