Intern - Park Management (Summer)
The State of South Dakota is seeking a Park Management Intern for the summer session to assist the park manager in operating the campground and leading seasonal staff. This role provides essential on-the-job experience in park management, focusing on customer service, problem solving, and routine operational duties.

Responsibilities
Assist the park manager in operating the campground
Lead seasonal staff in routine duties
Provide essential on the job experience in the field of park management
Give work direction to campground attendant and maintenance staff
Cleaning of bathrooms
Rule enforcement
Customer service
Selling park entrance licenses
Entry-level administrative processes such as bill paying, budgeting, schedule making, and processing forms
Assist campers and park users with issues or complaints
Assist with maintenance duties such as mowing, string trimming, building maintenance, construction, repairs, and forestry
Perform duties in adverse weather conditions and temperature extremes
Work night and weekend shifts
Qualification
Required
APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply
By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program
Preferred
Preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior
Preference may be given to South Dakota residents
Preference may be given to students of South Dakota institutions
