Electrical Engineer - Electrified Heaters & Furnaces

Responsibilities
Design and analyze electric-based heaters/furnaces using electrical heating elements (e.g., NiCr, FeCrAl, MoSi₂, SiC)
Develop and compare various designs based on performance, cost, and technical requirements
Define electrical performance requirements and translate them into system-level specifications
Create conceptual electrical designs, power ratings, wiring layouts, and single-line diagrams
Conduct electrical studies: grounding, hazards, grid connection, and configuration analysis
Perform simulations for heater performance (real/reactive power, power factor, efficiency, etc.)
Develop power balance, load sharing, grounding, and control strategies
Evaluate and select vendors for electrical equipment and services
Prepare technical requisitions and evaluate vendor proposals
Support interconnection studies, voltage drop calculations, and indicative pricing
Coordinate with consultants to develop detailed construction drawings
Review design deliverables and respond to Request for Information/Quote (RFI/Q) during construction
Draft specifications for MV and LV equipment
Analyze commissioning reports and system performance
Communicate technical concepts clearly across engineering and non-engineering teams
Stay current with emerging electrification technologies and market trends
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
3+ years of experience in electrical heater/furnace design and analysis
Hands-on experience with electrical heating elements (NiCr, FeCrAl, MoSi₂, SiC)
Simulation experience using MATLAB/Simulink (Simscape a plus)
Experience with thyristor-based silicon-controlled rectifiers (SCRs) including control schemes
Proficiency in MV and LV heater design, including 1-line and 3-line diagrams, protection strategies, and short circuit studies
Proficiency in AutoCAD and ETAP for SLDs and electrical modeling
Familiarity with related NEC, API, ANSI, and IEEE standards
Field experience with high-power loads, commissioning, and troubleshooting
Strong understanding of power generation, substations, and grounding systems
Excellent collaboration and interdisciplinary teamwork skills

Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
Highly developed professional interpersonal skills to enable working with a multiplicity of personalities, nationalities and cultures in a positive way to achieve results
Ability to represent the Company in a professional and respected manner

Ability to work effectively independently as well as part of a team
Ability and willingness to travel (domestic and international, 10 – 20%)
Preferred
Experience with MATLAB-Simulink, AutoCAD/SolidWorks, and ETAP
Experience with PSCAD, ANSYS, COMSOL, or SolidWorks Electrical
Experience in innovation projects or new product/process development
