Responsibilities
Drive the strategy, architecture, and roadmap for accounts: identity models, authentication, authorization, session and device management, account recovery, delegated administration, and audit trails
Deliver simple, reliable, secure account experiences across web, mobile, and APIs with clear SLOs for availability, latency, and correctness
Integrate and/or build IAM capabilities using industry protocols (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML) and standards (e.g., SCIM for provisioning) where appropriate
Raise the engineering bar via design reviews, code reviews, technical roadmaps, threat modeling, post-incident reviews, and high-quality documentation
Establish high-signal metrics and feedback loops for reliability, performance, and customer outcomes; use observability to drive continuous improvement
Apply AI and automation for provisioning, anomaly detection, access reviews, and reliability tooling
Hire, mentor, and grow engineers toward senior/staff levels; foster an inclusive, high-performance culture and sustainable on-call practices
Manage capacity, technical debt, and operational excellence; make clear build-vs-buy decisions for identity components and vendors
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field
8+ years of experience in the technology industry
2+ years of experience managing a team of 5+ engineers
4+ years building and operating secure, highly available backend systems with modern languages (e.g., Go, Java, TypeScript/Node, Python)
Experience building and operating complex systems at scale
Preferred
Strong grasp of relational data modeling and transactional integrity (Postgres or similar)
Proven delivery of complex, multi-stakeholder roadmaps and operational excellence in production
Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, CCPA)
Experience with AI technologies for software design and coding assistance
Background in healthcare, payments, or other regulated technology industries
