Responsibilities
Run cases independently from day one—you'll be the day-to-day attorney, not the note-taker
Take and defend depositions without a partner looking over your shoulder
Argue motions in California state and federal court (actually stand up and argue, not just draft and watch)
Communicate and negotiate directly with opposing counsel on strategy and settlement
Handle class actions and PAGA matters--the high stakes, high exposure cases that define practices
Get real trial experience (second-chairing trials, with a clear path to first chair)
Build relationships with in-house counsel at major employers who trust you to handle their biggest problems
Qualification
Required
4-6 years of law firm labor and employment litigation experience (class of 2019-2021)
Proven deposition experience (this is non-negotiable—you need to have done it)
Ability to independently manage cases, negotiate with opposing counsel, and handle court appearances
Strong analytical, research, and writing skills
Active California bar required
Preferred
Class action and/or PAGA experience strongly preferred
Trial experience preferred
BigLaw background is a plus
