As a Senior Coverage Counsel, you will act as a legal advisor and strategist, ensuring that clients' coverage-related matters are handled in a legally sound and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

Provide legal opinions and advice on coverage issues in various P&C claims, including professional liability, general liability, transportation, property and other related matters

Review or draft coverage recommendations, reservations of rights, and denial letters for complex claims, and assist with compliance with subpoenas

Make referral recommendations to and collaborate with outside coverage counsel to ensure consistent and effective handling of coverage related matters

Strategize on processes and procedures for effective, consistent handling of claims in compliance with various state laws and assist with the development and delivery of compliance training programs

Conduct legal research for internal business clients and provide clear, concise, accurate, and actionable legal advice

Required

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Active license in good standing to practice law in the relevant state(s)

5+ years of experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house legal department with significant experience handling insurance litigation and coverage issues

Excellent legal research & writing and communication skills; strong familiarity with legal research databases and tools

Solid case evaluation abilities, critical thinking skills, and the ability to translate legal issues into clear and simple advice

Able to learn on the job and be comfortable in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment where demands and priorities change rapidly

Must be detail-oriented with outstanding organizational skills and the proven ability to multi-task while maintaining high-quality and performance

Must be results-driven, have a strong sense of urgency, be business-minded, and able to effectively interact with, influence, and collaborate with other members of the organization
