Accounting Specialist needed in San Antonio
Disability Services of the Southwest/Lifespan Home Health is seeking an Accounting Specialist in San Antonio. The role involves ensuring accurate accounting records and performing various clerical and entry-level accounting tasks, including accounts payable and cash account reconciliation.

Responsibilities
Mail out accounts payable checks to vendors on a weekly basis
Daily deposit of checks
Maintain and distribute Detail Cash Reports daily
Reconcile cash accounts on a monthly basis
Perform accounts payable accounting functions including receiving and matching invoices, account coding, preparation of disbursements and accounts payable related record keeping
Code invoices with account numbers according to distribution in the general ledger; determine dates for invoices to be paid; keypunch invoices into computerized accounts payable system. Maintain alphabetical open invoice file for unpaid invoices
Review invoices scheduled for payment and special check requests with Controller, print approved checks, and prepare and route for signature according to check signing authority
Maintain accounting files and locate information as needed
Observe confidentiality policies at all times
Comply with federal, state, & company policies, procedures, and regulations
Perform other related duties as assigned

Full time/Part time – hours flexible
Monday – Friday $20/hr

Good math skills are required

Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions to complete assigned tasks
Willingness to work with health care professionals, clients, families, and the general public
Written and verbal communication skills are required to communicate effectively as appropriate to the needs of the audience
Must be able to read, write and comprehend English; must be able to communicate efficiently in English
Must have at least six (6) months clerical experience
Must be able to demonstrate competence with computer applications such as MS Word and Excel and have the ability to readily learn agency specific software
Must be able to type 35 wpm and be proficient in 10-key adding machine
Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time
Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction
Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with words, hand(s) or arm(s); for example, using the keyboard
Communication skills using the spoken word
Ability to see within normal parameters
Ability to hear within normal range
Ability to move about

High school diploma or GED preferred
Proficiency in the use of database and spreadsheet software strongly desired
