Postdoctoral Fellow- MED
The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. They are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to initiate and carry out research projects in collaboration with a research team, focusing on blood coagulation and platelet biology in support of Dr. Kathleen Pratt's lab.

Responsibilities
Assists in designing, developing, executing, and implementing scientific research and/or development
Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories to potential inventions and products
Perform specialized laboratory research utilizing experimental protocols which involves specialized procedures
Collect and handles samples and keeps detailed records of experiments
Make scientific observations, maintains detailed workbooks/documentation, and ensures documentation fulfills generally accepted professional/industry standards
Maintain clear and accurate laboratory records, inventories and logbooks. Performs data entry for research projects and maintains databases
Assist with the preparation of data for presentations at scientific meetings and for publication in journals
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role
Qualification
Required
Doctoral degree in molecular or cell biology, biophysical chemistry, biochemistry, immunology, or a closely related field
Minimum of 0-5 years' experience required
Knowledge of appropriate scientific area; ability to analyze and interpret data
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to troubleshoot technical procedures
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following for this position: platelet biology, blood coagulation and hemostasis, microfluidics assays, confocal microscopy
Experience with standard cell culture, flow cytometry and biochemical/biophysical methods
Cutting-edge gene editing techniques; microfluidics assays to analyze clotting kinetics; confocal and multi-photon microscopy; and various hemostasis-related assays
Ability to obtain and maintain a T1 Public trust clearance
Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs
Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods
