Architect II
The North Carolina Department of Administration is seeking applicants for a registered Architect for their State Construction Division. The role involves serving as Senior Architect for the Capital Improvement program, providing architectural services, analyzing building systems, and managing complex construction projects to ensure compliance with building codes.

Responsibilities
Serve as Senior Architect for the Department of Administration (DOA) Capital Improvement (CI) program
Provide architectural services for buildings in the Government Complex assigned to DOA
Analysis of building architectural systems including roofs, building exteriors, fenestrations, elevators, interior finishes, hardware for solving problems with these systems
Developing scope and cost estimates for related Capital Improvements projects
Owner review of DOA construction project plans and specifications
Owner project management of DOA construction projects
Verifying compliance with current building codes
Work closely with DOA Facility Management staff to offer solutions and recommendations to challenging building systems problems
Qualification
Required
Working knowledge of principles and practices of Architecture and Building Systems
Working knowledge of International Building Code and NC State Building Codes, Industry Standards, general construction policies and guidelines, and North Carolina General Statutes on public construction
Experience working and collaborating within a multi-disciplinary team
Experience in technical writing and written communication, constructive and appropriate negotiations, public speaking and giving oral presentations to small or large groups
Experience to readily discern discrepancies in technical documents or data, provide objective professional opinions and judgments when presented factual data, and maintain working relationships with officials, committees, and representatives in both private and public sectors
Valid NC Driver's License
Out of State Applicants must have valid Driver's License or acquire NC Driver's License within 60 days of hire
Valid license to practice architecture granted by the North Carolina Board of Architecture & Registered Interior Designers
Possession of a Level III North Carolina Inspector Certificate issued by the North Carolina Code Officials Qualification Board, or the ability to obtain within three (3) years of employment
Bachelor's degree in architecture or an engineering discipline related to the area of assignment from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of related experience as a registered architect; or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience
Preferred
Ability to navigate various web-based and internal databases, including lnterscope, State Property systems, and FCAP
At least 2 documented years of progressive professional and administrative experience in the practice of Architecture and Building Systems
A minimum of 3 years documented experience in the design of varied building types
